´╗┐Dear29200601ddns - The Facts About How We Learn Bending the Brain Diagram Dr. Howie Chan, author of The Doctor's Guide to the Brain and Curriculum, has brought to the forefront a virtual reality that has been ignored for centuries - we do not learn by reading textbooks. His new novel, How We Learn by Bending the Brain : A Scientist Explains It All, is a great introduction to this important subject. I have learned several things in my personal own life by observing other men and women. His aim was to show how the human brain reacts in different ways to various stimuli. He started his research by drawing a simple diagram - a 2D graphic representation of the standard anatomic and physiological structures of your brain. His goal was to demonstrate how folks use their brains in specific situations. From the diagram he derived some significant discoveries - the nerve cells in the retina are extremely flexible, they can adapt to changes in the surroundings, but they are extremely reactive, as their regular blood circulation is low. When changes happen, including low blood flow, they cannot respond quickly enough, so that they need to be triggered and do something about that. He discovered that different areas of the brain react to different stimuli. This is true of our visual system and our auditory systemour language system as well as our motor system. Quite simply, Dr. Chan said, you can't learn by reading a book - you need to read the book to learn. How We Learn from Bending the Brain is a brand new book by an expert in brain development and physiology. It'll be very valuable to anyone who wants to know more about the brain, how it functions, and how it may be used for greater things in life. I, for one, have learned a lot from the diagrams that he explains in the book. I love the way he describes things in this way I can know his message in a few minutes and go back and read it again several times to make sure I knew what he was saying. The information Dr. Howie Chan provides in his book is easy to understand and to implement. The diagrams are clear and concise, but still, the points are addressed to a broad audience. His explanations are not intended to frighten you - he doesn't try to convince you using brain surgery concepts. The book also discusses how mental disorders, such as schizophrenia, are brought on by neurological problems, like damage to certain areas of the brain. The next thing I heard from How We Learn by Bending the Brain Diagram was about the way language is joined to the brain. Certain sounds, such as the sounds that we hear in various languages, can have a profound effect on how our brains react to the next words that appear in our minds. They could make us more receptive to specific foreign ideas and can change the way we think and respond. Dr. Howie Chan has done an excellent job of producing the information in his book clear to everyone. For instance, when he says, studying brain matter does not mean studying textbooks, he actually explained why he thinks that. It's thereading part that is confusing. What he implies is that each part of the mind has its own special role and function. Dr. Howie Chan's How We Learn by Bending the Brain Diagram is an excellent introduction to this topic. He describes how the language and engine systems are linked to the way the visual system works. He shows how reading helps us remember the pictures and help us understand the stories. Out of a science-based perspective.
