The UML diagrams are built around the notion of two states, which are at various phases of transition from one another. When you look at a tree structure in your thoughts you may envision that items which can be found nearer to the border of the trees are going to have fewer leaves. Likewise, when you take a look at the tree structure in your mind you may imagine that objects that can be found nearer to the centre of the tree will probably have fewer branches, and so on. All things in a tree structure will have a general property that they share with all other objects that they are connected to. An example of that is that all objects in a tree structure share a common property because they can be collapsed to one kind of object. This is known as the root and if you examine the origins of the tree you will see that they are closed types of items, i.e. All the branches is not the same kind of branch of the item. When you look at a branch, then it may be that it is below the remainder of the branch. The second illustration of how things can be connected is that if you examine a tree structure you might envision that each branch has a different shape. As, and the typical rounded shape the branches of the tree structure can also be shaped in different ways, such as rectangle or square.
